A professional hub, advancing the career of Filipino HR practitioner in the UAE
The Filipino Human Resources Practitioner’s Association – UAE (FHRPA – UAE), popularly known as FILHR, is a duly recognized Social Enterprise committed to advancing the career of Filipino HR practitioners in the UAE.
In November 2009, Sheryll Bacay approached some Filipino HR professionals in the UAE to form an innovative group that may positively influence the field of Human Resources in the country. In February 2010, the first meeting took place, and a team of five members was formed. Formal meetings then followed with a clear agenda of developing the organization’s vision and mission. The first version of the Association came to life as the Filipino HR Community UAE.
Two months later, in April 2010, seven new members joined and formed a new core group of twelve members who framed the initial vision and mission of the organization and drummed up a membership campaign. All twelve members of this new core group are recognized as the ‘Founders’ of the newly renamed FILHR.
In the following assembly, in May 2010, over 20 new members joined the Association, while the core group spearheaded follow up meetings to draft the Organizations By-laws.
On June 25, 2010, during the general assembly attended by 44 members, the organizations’ by-laws were ratified, for which the first set of Executive Committee was elected.
In 2018 it was officially known as FILHR FZ LLC, a duly licensed social enterprise in the UAE with two branches: Dubai & the Northern Emirates and Abu Dhabi & Al Ain.
FILHR upholds its social objective of uplifting the Filipino HR practitioners in the UAE to attain HR Excellence. It expanded its network and has come a long way with over 250 active affiliates across UAE. It became the venue for HR practitioners to connect with a professional network, excel through career development opportunities, and encourage leadership development.
To serve as a common venue by which Filipino human resources professionals may freely exchange human resources best practices that will further enhance their professional growth and develop among affiliates the qualities of professionalism, integrity, & social responsibility through related and continual learning and development activities.
